According to the Gillette News Record, Cloud Peak Energy has pushed back the it's auction date until August 15th. This
is after previously being pushed back from August 1st.
According to the American Wind Energy Association, Wyoming is hosting 12% of wind
energy development with 4,831 MW currently in construction or development.
Two new wind energy projects gain permitting approval in Carbon and Albany counties. The projects are expected
to be completed in 2021.
The Belle Ayr and Eagle Butte mines have been approved to be sold back to their previous owner, Contura, as part of Blackjewel
LLC's bankruptcy. This sale will allow the mines that have been shut down for the
last month to resume production.
Baker Hughes Rig Counts
Baker Hughes reports the total rig counts for this week
- The U.S. rig count is down 8 rigs from last week to 934, with oil rigs down 6 to 764,
gas rigs down 2 to 169, and one miscellaneous rig.
- The U.S. rig count is down 123 rigs from last years count of 1,057, with oil rigs
down 105, gas rigs down 17, and miscellaneous rigs down 1.
- The Wyoming rig count remains steady at 36.
- The Colorado rig count remains steady at 32.
- The New Mexico rig count is up 2 to 109.
- The North Dakota rig count remains steady at 47.
- The Texas rig count is down 1 to 454.
Opening Prices from Bloomberg Energy August 9
- West Texas Intermediate (WTI) opened at $52.88 down from $55.66 last week.
- Brent Crude opened at $57.74 down from last week's price of $61.89
- Natural Gas opened at $2.12, holding steady from last week.
