The School of Energy Resources (SER) is focused on energy driven economic development for Wyoming. Considering this mission, SER requests energy-focused, applied research proposals from University of Wyoming faculty and staff. The topics of interest for this call are focused on enabling new markets for Wyoming fossil fuels as well as diversifying Wyoming’s energy sector, to ensure the state will remain a competitive energy exporter during the long-term, structural energy transition.
Topics of interest:
Proposals will be considered that evaluate technology, policy and/or economics in the following fields of interest:
Hydrogen storage
Hydrogen transportation
Rare earth element extraction
Solar
Wind
Biomass with carbon capture toward carbon-negative projects
How to apply:
Submit a 2 page (max) proposal that includes:
PI college/department affiliation and expertise
Research description
Explanation of how the research will grow and/or diversify Wyoming’s energy sector
How funds will be spent
Email the proposal and questions to Trish Steger (psteger@uwyo.edu) with the subject “SER RFP”
Timeline:
Proposals are due December 14, 2020
Selected projects will be notified by January 6, 2021
Expected Deliverables:
By March 26, 2020: Update provided to SER via presentation
Final report by July 15, 2020 (10 pages or less)
Funding opportunity:
$50,000 maximum budget
Funds can be used for research purposes, including
Graduate student support
Undergraduate student support
Research equipment, consumables and other needs for the proposed research
June 2021 faculty summer salary
ALL FUNDS MUST BE EXPENDED BY JUNE 30, 2021. THERE WILL BE NO EXTENSIONS.
It is expected that up to 2-4 projects will be funded, subject to the availability of funding.
