Burkhart Joins Enhanced Oil Recovery Commission

A longtime state legislator from Rawlins has been appointed to the state’s Enhanced Oil Recovery Commission, which oversees the University of Wyoming’s Enhanced Oil Recovery Institute.

Rep. Donald Burkhart Jr., R-Rawlins, succeeds outgoing commission member Rep. Mike Greear, R-Worland.

Burkhart has represented House District 15 in Carbon County since January 2011. He holds a B.S. in physics from John Carroll University and worked as a safety engineer for BP American Production Co. He also has served on the Wyoming-Montana Safety Council Board of Directors.

His legislative committee assignments include chairing the House Transportation, Highways and Military Affairs Committee, and serving on the House Minerals, Business and Economic Development Committee.

Other members of the Enhanced Oil Recovery Commission are Gov. Mark Gordon, Chairman Ken Hendricks, State Geologist Erin Campbell, Chad Brister, former state Sen. Eli Bebout, UW Trustee Dave True and Robert King.
