A 10-year employee of the University of Wyoming’s Enhanced Oil Recovery Institute (EORI) has been appointed as director of the institute, effective May 1.
Lon Whitman brings a wealth of experience to his new role, as well as a collaborative leadership style; a commitment to accountability and Wyoming partnerships; and a unified vision for EORI to help increase production through improved and enhanced oil recovery operations.
Whitman has a degree in petroleum engineering from UW and over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. His professional career includes both offshore and onshore experience in reservoir engineering and business development.
He has an extensive background in enhanced oil recovery principles and technologies and worked for nearly 10 years as a private consultant in enhanced and improved oil recovery projects in Wyoming, Texas and North Dakota. He also has professional experience in environmental due diligence as a consultant for oil and gas acquisitions and divestitures.
“The Enhanced Oil Recovery Commission is extremely pleased that Lon Whitman has agreed to become the director of the Enhanced Oil Recovery Institute,” says commission Chairman Ken Hendricks. “We are confident that, under Lon’s guidance, EORI will continue to benefit our state by providing cutting-edge technical support to Wyoming’s oil and gas operators.”
