Heather Chandler Joins School of Energy Resources’ Academic Program

Heather Chandler

The School of Energy Resources (SER) welcomed Heather Chandler to the Academic Program team in May as a Senior Office Associate.

A native of Cody, Wyo., Chandler earned her undergraduate degree in English from the University of Wyoming in 2020. Following her studies, she completed a Master’s in Library and Information Science with a focus on Academic Librarianship from the University of North Carolina, where she excelled at cataloguing, coding, instructional teaching, and information technology.

In her new role at SER, she will be utilizing her meticulous language, research, and organizational skills to support the important programmatic updates in the school’s curriculum and scheduling.

“I have always wanted to maintain a presence in higher education and strengthen academic communities,” says Chandler. “My background has been extremely dynamic and versatile, so I am really looking forward to helping equip students with the tools necessary to be successful both in the classroom and in their future careers.”

In addition to her technical expertise, Chandler will be leveraging her strong interpersonal abilities to interface with students for advising and course registration. Having previously served in multiple customer service rolls, including most recently as the Head Night Auditor for the Hilton, Chandler has cultivated a talent for active listening and problem solving.

“We are very pleased to have Heather join our team,” says SER Academic Director Kami Danaei. “She brings with her the passion and drive to really connect with students, and has a genuine interest in seeing them succeed on whichever pathway is best suited for their education. We are so fortunate to have someone so perceptive and patient–and with such attention to detail–dive into an advising role.”

Chandler has also expressed interest in working with the collaborative team of researchers at SER.

“One of the things that really excited me about this job is the overlap between research and education,” adds Chandler. “I am really excited to be working with a team of professionals that are conducting world-class research. Equally important is the emphasis on educating the workforce to help the state continue to grow economically. I am excited to be a part of helping the students find what they are passionate about so that they can have an impact in the innovative and steadfast roles found in the energy field.”
