In his new role, Christensen will be managing the financials for the Wyoming Integrated Test Center and will serve as the interdepartmental liaison between the UW Foundation and the UW Human Resources Department.

Christensen provides the perfect combination of local knowledge and financial savvy to the position. A native of Gillette, Wyo., he grew up on a ranch surrounded by energy development and innovation. Inspired to manage the business side of the ranch’s ventures, he attended the University of Wyoming for his undergraduate education and recently graduated with dual degrees in Finance and Management in the College of Business, as well as a minor in Blockchain.

Throughout his studies, Christensen worked part-time for SER, gaining valuable experience and learning the nuances of day to day operations. He spent his summers working with the Campbell County Fair and has also been involved in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

“I am really happy to be working at the School of Energy Resources and am excited to offer my strengths to the success of the school,” says Christensen. “SER is a very supportive place to work with a great community. I have a vested interest in Wyoming, and I am excited to be a part of an organization working to ensure the state’s future.”

In addition to joining SER’s permanent team, Christensen will also be working towards a master’s degree in Finance as well as his Certified Financial Planner Certificate and UW’s Energy Business Graduate Certificate.

“We are so pleased that James has joined our team in a full-time capacity,” says Rachel Ferrell, SER Director of Business Operations. “It is always so nice when we can seamlessly transition an incredibly qualified student into a professional role. James has so much to offer and we are lucky to have him.”
