Kris Walker, a staff research scientist with Chevron, one of the largest hydrocarbon producers in the United States, will speak about the future of carbon capture and storage monitoring Wednesday, February 26, at the University of Wyoming.
Walker will speak from noon-1 p.m. in the UW Energy Innovation Center’s Encana Auditorium. The free lunch presentation is part of the UW School of Energy Resources’ (SER) Distinguished Speaker Series. Interested students, members of the campus community and the public are invited to attend.
With over two decades of experience as a research geoscientist, Walker’s expertise spans acoustics, anisotropy, rock physics, seismology, gravity, and fiber optic sensor development. Over the years, he has worked in academia, service companies, and operator companies, contributing to the energy sector and tackling various challenges.
“We are pleased to have Dr. Walker join us to discuss some of the finer details about carbon storage monitoring while also making connections with our faculty and staff for potential collaborations down the road,” says Christine Reed, SER director of outreach. “We have a lot of overlap on some great research projects at UW, and our research team is just as excited to share some of their endeavors with him as they are to hear about his work.”
