The School of Energy Resources (SER) is pleased to announce its fall 2025 graduates.

The winter commencement ceremony will acknowledge the achievements of two students completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Energy Resource Management and Development (ERMD), two students completing a minor in Energy Resource Management ERM) and one student earning a Land Administration certificate (LAND).

Created in 2012, the ERMD bachelor’s degree is an interdisciplinary program designed to meet the needs of the energy industry and prepares students for careers in all types of energy development while addressing environmental considerations and working collaboratively with energy law and policy makers. The program offers two concentrations for specialization: professional land management (PLM), and energy and environmental systems (EES).

Cheyenne native Lars Quinlivan is graduating with a B.S. in ERMD with a concentration in PLM. Quinlivan has already secured a position as a Landman at Uranium Energy Corp. A highly engaged member of SER and the Student Chapter of Energy Resources (SCER), he is well-positioned to make a significant impact among land professionals across the Rocky Mountain region, bringing his specialized knowledge to the forefront of resource development.

Jack McKinley, originally from Oxford, Ohio, is earning his B.S. in ERMD with a concentration in EES, complemented by a minor in Rangeland Ecology and Watershed Management. Following a valuable summer internship with CropKing Inc., McKinley is currently considering pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Wyoming. His commitment is to explore innovative pathways for the field and advance research within the discipline.

Two exceptional Petroleum Engineering graduates also completed SER’s interdisciplinary ERM minor, and are set to begin their careers at Venator Resources, highlighting the strong industry demand for UW’s College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (CEPS) and SER-trained students.

Daniel McFadyen of Calgary, Alberta, is completing his B.S. in Petroleum Engineering with minors in ERM and Geology. McFadyen previously served as Secretary and then President of the UW Student Chapter of the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC), providing fellow students with essential hands-on drilling experience. His dedication to collaboration and interdisciplinary learning will be a significant asset at Venator Resources.

Logan Colwell from Windsor, Colo., is also graduating with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering and a minor in ERM. Colwell was an active member of both the IADC and the UW Student Chapter of the American Association of Drilling Engineers. He has taken full advantage of experiential learning, networking, and professional development opportunities throughout his time at UW.

Brenna Graham of Lander, is completing SER’s online LAND certificate. She currently serves as an Administrative Assistant and Financial Officer at Strike Consulting Group LLC, where she supports compliance, correspondence, filing systems, accounts receivable and payable, and marketing. Graham holds an AAS in Farm and Ranch Resource Management from Central Wyoming College, and she looks forward to advancing her career with the added expertise gained through the LAND certificate.

“We are immensely proud of these students and all they have accomplished during their time at UW,” says SER Senior Assistant Dean Kami Danaei. “Lars and Jack really exemplify the ERMD degree, showcasing all that can be accomplished in both concentrations. We are further delighted to not only see continued interest in our minor and certificates, but also the increased engagement from students in other departments that are taking advantage of the exposure and activities that SER provides in the energy space. All of these graduates are well-positioned to embark on promising careers and advanced studies.”
