Scholarship Appeals

Students may appeal to have their scholarship eligibility reviewed by a committee on a case-by-case basis with supporting documentation.

Appealable scenarios

New first-time students (freshman or transfer) may appeal initial scholarship eligibility if they have experienced relevant extenuating circumstances, or other factors, they feel impacted their ability to receive a scholarship.

New first-time students (freshman) may appeal to request we consider their high school weighted GPA for initial eligibility. (Only applies to students entering UW beginning fall 2025 semester and beyond.)

Continuing students who had their scholarship cancelled for not meeting renewal criteria following spring semester may appeal if they experienced relevant extenuating circumstances, or other factors, they feel impacted their ability to renew the scholarship. Scholarship criteria are reviewed according to the terms and conditions the student received when the scholarship was initially offered.

Appeal Process

All appeal forms are online forms. As part of the appeal process, students will be required to write a brief narrative explaining your situation and what you want the committee to consider. If appealing because you did not maintain renewing eligibility for a scholarship, explain what was beyond your control and what corrective measures you have taken to address those issues.

  • Incomplete appeal forms will not be considered
  • Submitting an appeal does not guarantee approval
  • The committee may request additional or updated information before making a decision
  • Appeal decisions by the committee are final and not subject to further review
  • For denied appeals, students may meet with a representative from our office to discuss alernative options for funding their education.

Appeal Forms

New First-Time Students

Use this form if you will be entering UW beginning spring 2025 semester. This form will open on November 1, 2024, and close on January 4, 2025.

Use this form if you will be entering UW beginning fall 2025 semester. This form will open on January 1, 2025, and close on April 30, 2025.

Current Students

Use this form if you are a current student who had your scholarship cancelled following spring 2025. This form will open after renewing eligibility reviews are complete (in the summer) and will close on August 25, 2025.


How Long Will This Take?

It will take approximately one week for the committee to review and make a decision. The key to making this a timely process is to meet the appeal deadline, check your email frequently, and respond promptly to requests for additional information (if any).
