1. Brief description of the merits of the proposed research on Derecho. (1-3 paragraphs) *.

2. Justification of the need for Derecho resources, i.e., a description of how the capabilities of Derecho will advance the proposed research. (1-3 paragraphs) *.

3. Allocation Request: estimate of the time in terms of node-hours/year (total UW CPU of 5 million and GPU of 15 thousand) and storage needed on an annual basis. *.

4. Contribution of candidate to developing a Community of Practice at UW around the innovative use of high-performance computing, AI and other computing areas and advancing UW’s partnership with NCAR. *.

5. Description of any other potential needs, such as special software stacks or staff support. *

Approval: The applicant obtains a letter of support from their Department/Unit Head with approval from the College/School Dean via signature and submits that along with a current CV via email to the School of Computing AFTER submission of this online form. The School of Computing then solicits review from the internal UW NWSC committee and makes appropriate recommendation to the Vice President for Research and Economic Development. Approved candidates are forwarded to the Provost's office for final review and official appointment/reappointment.
