Each year Family Weekend offers families an opportunity to share in the UW experience and spend time with their own special student. Parents, grandparents, siblings, and other family members of currently enrolled UW students are invited to visit the UW-Laramie campus for an event-packed, memory-making weekend! Family Weekend is hosted by the Student Success and Graduation Hub. The hub exists to maximize student support and programming, personalized to their needs. All UW students have access to a support system that includes academic advising, therapeutic counseling, engagement, leadership development, mentoring, tutoring, developmental workshops and most of all – a sense of belonging.

Pistol Pete Package: This package includes all events from Thursday-Sunday.
Cowboy Joe Package: This package includes all events from Friday-Saturday.
11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Check In: Come to the Student Success and Graduation Hub and grab your materials, swag, and tickets for the week!
11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. BBQ: BBQ, Yard Games, Mix and Mingle with other Parents
3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Pokes Pub Social: Join SS&G in the Basement of Union at Pokes Pub for a refreshing root beer or adult beverage before heading to the Steamboat Rodeo.
4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Transportation: Free transportation to Hanson Arena
5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Tribute to Steamboat Rodeo: Join us at a fun family event and see a traditional rodeo! Watch a Ranch Bronc Ride, Wild Steer Ride, Calf Dressing, Rodeo Relay, and Country Swing Dance.
11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Open House and Check In: Come to the Student Success and Graduation Hub and check in for the weekend event and grab your materials, swag, and tickets for the week!
12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Explore Half Acre: Head on over to Half Acre gym and enjoy the guy, take a free class, or climb our rock wall.
1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Grub, Games, Music: The Student Success and Graduation Hub will host a late lunch with yard games for the whole family to enjoy.
3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Farmers Market and Street Dance: Go downtown and use a free token at the market, plus use a free drink ticket at Bonds Brewery for everyone 21+. There will be non-alcoholic beverages available as an alternative. After, please enjoy our wonderful restaurants downtown with your family.
7:00 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. Cowboy Coffee: The whole family is invited to join for coffee and a grab-and-go breakfast leading up to the start of the Homecoming Parade. This will be hosted in the new Parking Garage.
9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Premier Homecoming Parade Watch Party: Exclusive Parade Watching at Student Success and Graduation Hub
9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Tailgate at Pete’s Party Lawn & Music: Get in the zone for UW’s 2023 Homecoming Game! Food and drinks are provided. Live music from local Wyoming artists. We will also be giving away a chance to win a Field Tour and High-Altitude Performance Center HAPC.
2:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Homecoming Game Kick Off: *Football tickets are available for a discount when you go to gowyo.com/promocode and use code FAMILYWEEKEND
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Presidents Brunch: Our last event of Parent and Family Weekend will be heat the Union Ballroom. Breakfast will be provided! There will be awards and prizes available. We will recognize Parent of the Year and students will be eligible to enter a drawing for a chance at free tuition for the spring semester.
As part of Family Weekend, the Student Success and Graduation Hub is proud to recognize the Parent of the Year awardee during Family Weekend. Nominees for this award are submitted by UW students, who want to share how great their parent(s) or guardian(s) are. Students are required to write and submit an essay to ssgraduation@uwyo.edu explaining why their parent(s) or guardian(s) are deserving. The Student Success Hub will review all nominees and notify the winner by Aug. 26 so travel arrangements can be made -- we’d love to see the big winners at Family Weekend! If seeing your student wasn’t already enough, then winning free tuition for their spring semester might be an added incentive to join us during Family Weekend. The Student Success and Graduation Hub will be raffling off the following big-ticket items over the weekend. Winners must be present at the event in order to receive prizes.

While not everyone gets a prize, remember that everyone is a winner during Family Weekend. Family support and involvement is a key contributor to college success. Familiarizing yourself with the people and resources available to your student will be a valuable part of your weekend on campus!
