Family Weekend

Each year Family Weekend, hosted by the Student Success and Graduation Hub, offers families an opportunity to share in the University of Wyoming experience and spend time with their UW student. Parents, grandparents, siblings, and other family members of currently enrolled UW students are invited to visit the UW-Laramie campus for an event-packed, memory-making weekend! See you this fall!

What to Expect

Join us for the marquee Family Weekend events -- the Family Weekend Tailgate at the football game Oct. 17 and the Family Weekend Brunch on Oct. 18. Enjoy good company and good food at the tailgate party, cheer on the Pokes, before attending the brunch on Sunday, where students will be eligible to win some BIG drawings! 

Saturday, October 17th
Cowboy Family Tailgate 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM 
NEW Family Weekend Tailgate location in the Indoor Practice Facility! Experience a centralized tailgate experience with a catered lunch and private bartender. Celebrate with us before the Cowboys take on Northern Illinois University! Lunch, refreshments, yard games, and lots of gameday hype are all included. All attendees are entered into a drawing for a tour of the High Altitude Performance Center before the game and sideline passes!
UW Cowboys vs. NIU Huskies 1:00 PM
Join us for Family Day at War Memorial Stadium watching the UW Cowboys play the NIU Huskies! Gold Package Family Weekend registration now includes discounted football tickets.
 
Sunday, October 18th
9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. President's Brunch
Sit down and enjoy brunch with President Reeves! Learn about the Parent of the Year nominees, celebrate the Parent of the Year recipient, and see if your luck will win you a door prize. Door prizes include merchandise baskets, scholarships, and one lucky student can win free tuition for the spring. As a reminder, your student must be present and registered to win.

 

Packages and pricing

UW students attend Family Weekend free of charge but must be registered to attend. Children 3-12 attend at a discounted rate, while children under 3 attend free of charge.

The Gold Package includes access to the Cowboy Family Tailgate, discounted tickets to the UW/NIU Football Game, and the President's Brunch, including all drawings, food, beverages, and Family Weekend merchandise!

  • Gold Package: $240
  • Lil' Poke Gold Package: $95

The Brown Package provides an option for those who already have tickets to the game. This option includes access to the Cowboy Family Tailgate and the President's Brunch, including all drawings, food, beverages, and Family Weekend merchandise!

  • Brown Package: $170
  • Lil' Poke Brown Package: $70

Family Weekend Awards and Prizes

Parent of the Year Award

Student Success is proud to recognize the Parent of the Year awardee during Family Weekend. Nominees for this award are submitted by UW students who want to share how great their parent(s) or guardian(s) are. To be eligible, students must fill out and submit the Parent of the Year form explaining why you're family member is deserving.

Drawings and Prizes

Family Weekend offers great drawings and prizes at the Family Weekend Brunch, which has included free spring semester tuition at the in-state undergraduate rate, swag, and other great winnings in past years! Winners must be present at the brunch to receive the prize! An updated list of prizes will be provided closer to the event.
