About the Accounting B.S.B. Program at UW
At its most basic level, accounting is recognizing, recording and analyzing the financial effects of business activities. In today’s technologically driven and complex world, this involves a lot more than a calculator. To understand and communicate the flow of financial information in an organization, accountants must not only understand business and accounting principles, they also reckon with ethics, up-to-the-minute technologies and the global marketplace. When you study accounting, you are learning the “language of business.” This makes accounting one of the most versatile business majors you can choose.

The University of Wyoming MBA Program and College of Business are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International. AACSB sets the highest standards of student, faculty and institutional excellence and visits each institution every 5 years for assessment for re-accreditation. Rest assured that an MBA from UW carries a validity of the highest level.

STEM Meets Accounting
Students pursing the Bachelor of Science in Business (B.S.B.) in Accounting at the University of Wyoming will have the opportunity to earn their degree with a STEM designation. This designation highlights the program's emphasis on quantitative analysis, data and technology-driven program solving-skills that are increasingly essential in today's accounting profession. A STEM designation may allow eligible international students to apply for a 24-month STEM OPT extension, providing up to 36 months of practical training in the U.S., subject to federal regulations.

“The competition opened doors for me. I had a job offer from one of the top four accounting firms in the world. It was all because of the entrepreneurial background. They want the people who are problem-solvers, who are driven and who have the experience."
