Finance Program Highlights

Smaller Class Sizes

Learning in class sizes of approximately 45 students allows for conversations and collaborative experiences that may be lost in larger lecture halls of 400 people. This is why UW has ensured class structures remain smaller and maintain chances for connection.

If you’re looking for real-life experience, look no further. Our program utilizes a trading lab designed to simulate a trader’s desk at a major world brokerage firm. It features several Bloomberg Terminals, and we grant our students the opportunity to trade real money in real time for real-world experience.

Trading Lab

Many scholarships and opportunities are available to undergraduate students that can be extremely helpful and rewarding. UW staff are glad to assist students in their pursuit of financial resources and can contribute to the completion of scholarship applications as students progress through the program and become eligible for new awards.

Scholarships

Students can join the Financial Management Association to pursue interests in banking, investment, and finance. There are opportunities to develop portfolios and present them for prizes. In 2021 our students won first place in the 35th Annual D.A. Davidson Student Investment Program.

"Majoring in Finance at the University of Wyoming gave me the stepping stones I needed to build my career. Small class sizes, frequent touchpoints with faculty, and a focus on team-based projects helped me build beyond my understanding of financial concepts, and into a confident, collaborative, and inquisitive professional. I left the University with more than textbook knowledge for which I am infinitely thankful!"
