Are you interested in advocating and managing public lands, national parks or wilderness areas? Do you want to solve natural resource challenges?

A bachelor's degree in environment and natural Resources (ENR) from the University of Wyoming will prepare you to be an environmental steward. You'll work with faculty and students to develop critical thinking and collaborative problem-solving for a variety of natural resource challenges around the world. Professional and applied experiences outside the classroom will provide you with hands-on knowledge and enhance your employability after graduation.

About Our Environment and Natural Resources Degree

An understanding of the environment and the earth's natural resources is relevant to every field of study - from biology to business, from public health to political science, from art to anthropology and many more. Choose from two degree options:

  • Earn a bachelor of science in environment and natural resources along with completing a concurrent undergraduate degree of your choosing from another area of study at the University of Wyoming.
  • Add environment and natural resources as a concurrent major to any other undergraduate degree program at the University of Wyoming.

Develop your skills and research alongside diverse faculty within the Haub School. Head out to the field to study in the environment with Maggie Bourque. Focus on regional earth systems modeling with Dr. Melissa Bukovsky or learn how environmental change influences animals with Dr. Joe Holbrook. A bachelor's or concurrent degree in Environment and Natural Resources will develop you into a well-rounded environmental steward.

Professional & Applied Experiences

An applied experience is required in the environment and natural resources major. Professional and applied experiences include internships, summer employment, community service, semesters studied abroad, faculty-led field courses and undergraduate research. The environment and natural resources bachelor's degree program and concurrent major include insights into the foundations of environmental science, current and historic environmental values, collaboration in environment and natural resource problem-solving, environmental assessment and an internship experience. Your educational experience will be further developed by collaboration from multiple departments across the University of Wyoming. You will take courses in cultures and values, economics, environmental management, science and policy as they relate to environment and natural resource issues.

The job outlook in energy and natural resources is very promising, driven by the growing need for clean energy and sustainability education.
