About the Global Environmental Futures Program
The Certificate in Global Environmental Futures (GEF) brings together ecological, political and cultural perspectives to help you understand the environmental challenges shaping our world. This interdisciplinary program gives you the flexibility to explore global environmental issues alongside your major or graduate studies while building knowledge you can apply to the future of conservation, sustainability, environmental policy and more. With options for online and in-person learning, GEF can fit a variety of academic and professional goals.
Undergraduate Certificate
The undergraduate Global Environmental Futures Certificate is a flexible way to add a global environmental perspective to your existing degree. Complete 9 credits through a foundational course and electives from the Haub School’s diverse selection of field and international courses. You can explore topics and places beyond the traditional classroom, with opportunities to incorporate immersive field and global experiences into your studies. Whether you’re interested in conservation, sustainable tourism, environmental policy or international environmental work, GEF can complement your major and broaden your perspective.
Graduate Certificate
The graduate Global Environmental Future Certificate is designed for students and professionals who want to deepen their understanding of complex environmental challenges from an interdisciplinary, global perspective. The 9-credit program combines a foundational course with two electives, drawing from the Haub School’s varied field and international course offerings. The certificate can be completed fully online, making it a flexible option for working professionals and distance learners, and it can also stack into the online or in-person Master of Science in Environment, Natural Resources & Society (ENRS).
