Human Development & Family Sciences Highlights

Human development and family science students are exposed to impactful internship experiences, research opportunities and student-led organizations. Here are just a few of the highlights of our program:

Internship Experience

All human development and family science majors complete a community-based internship during their time at UW. These internship programs are guided by faculty and allow students to gain experience in their areas of interest before graduation. Students have previously worked with the Eppson Center for Seniors, Hospice of Laramie, SAFE project, Interfaith Food Pantry and the Laramie Soup Kitchen.

Specialized Faculty

The human development and family science program is led by highly accomplished faculty, each with their own specialty. Our professors and lecturers specialize in early childhood, emerging adulthood and later life — so no matter what area of human development interests you, you’ll have resources and leaders to guide your education.

Undergraduate Research

The University of Wyoming offers undergraduate research opportunities to many human development and family science students.

Students work with faculty members to research their areas of interest across the human life course — including aging, healthy relationship dynamics and child development, among others. During this process, students learn methods and techniques for conducting high quality research.

Student Gerontology Association

The Student Gerontology Association is a student organization that was formed by human development and family science students with an interest in the field of aging. This year, all Student Gerontology Association members were granted free admission into the Wyoming Conference on Aging, where students networked with professionals from across the state that work.

Each and every professor were outstanding. They truly care about their students in and out of the classroom. The community they build is remarkable and I will truly miss all of them!
