Student Gerontology Association
The Student Gerontology Association (SGA) was formed to offer opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to socialize, network with professionals in the field of aging, gain knowledge in the area of gerontology, explore career opportunities and volunteer to make our community stronger and more age-friendly. All students at UW with an interest in issues relating to aging are welcome to join.
Gerontology is the multidisciplinary study of aging and the aging process, encompassing physical, psychological, social, and cultural aspects of later life. For a potential student interested in the gerontology club, it offers an opportunity to explore and engage with topics related to aging, including age-related health issues, caregiving, retirement planning, and intergenerational relationships.
The club provides a supportive environment for students to connect with peers, professionals, and community members who share an interest in promoting successful aging and enhancing the well-being of older adults. Through guest speakers, workshops, volunteer opportunities, and social events, members gain valuable insights, resources, and experiences that deepen their understanding of aging and prepare them for careers and service in aging-related fields.
