Earn a Latina/o Studies Minor

This dynamic minor gives students the opportunity to study Latino/a culture and history, including social issues faced by Latino/a populations in the U.S. and abroad.

UW’s curriculum provides students with an understanding of this unique multicultural population and transnational society. Graduates are prepared for fulfilling careers as leaders and scholars who work with Latina/o populations.

About the Minor in Latina/o Studies

As a Latina/o studies student, you will learn about the experiences of Latinas/os in the U.S. and abroad. Our program recognizes the fact that Latinas/os come from very diverse backgrounds, each with their own rich histories and diverse experiences. You’ll be immersed in Latino/a history, music, art, education, politics and more!

 

Students must be pursuing an undergraduate degree at the University of Wyoming to declare a Latina/o Studies minor.

This minor covers a wide variety of rich and diverse topics within the Latina/o culture. Here is a sample of the courses you can take as part of our program:

Online & In-Person Options

This minor is an excellent option for busy students looking to deepen their cultural understanding of Latin America. All courses can be completed online in an asynchronous fashion. You can take each course at your own pace and complete classwork whenever it’s convenient for you!

What Can You do with a Latina/o Studies Minor?

Our graduates are equipped for a range of careers in education and the arts. In fact, many of our students work for non-profit organizations to support causes they care about. Many grads additionally go on to receive master’s and doctorate degrees.
