CONSTRUCTION UPDATES
Expect delays getting to and around campus this summer and early fall. Plan extra time and check alternate parking, routes, and bus stops before heading out. Ivinson Avenue will close between Eighth Street and 15th Street starting Monday, May 18, and will reopen Thursday, Oct. 15. Access to the Knight Hall loop will remain open from 12th or 13th Street, and Hoyt Hall parking will remain reachable as much as possible from 11th or 12th Street. Work includes utility replacements and a full road rebuild. In addition, construction on Ivinson is underway across campus, with impacts on various routes to buildings expected until early fall. Grad Student Grants 101: NSF GRFP Workshop
Learn the basics of applying for grants at the Grad Student Grants Workshop.
The National Science Foundation's Graduate Research Fellowship Program. The event is on August 27, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am, with a session from 10:45 am to 12:00 pm. Another session is on August 28, 2026, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, focusing on a writing session. The location is Aven Nelson 212.
Interested in securing funding for your graduate education and research? Join us for the Grad Student Grants 101: NSF GRFP Workshop, where you'll learn about the National Science Foundation's Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP)—one of the nation's most prestigious fellowships for graduate students pursuing research-based degrees.
This workshop will introduce the fellowship application process, provide guidance on developing a competitive proposal, and offer dedicated time to strengthen your application. Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions, including the follow-up discussion and collaborative writing session, to receive the greatest benefit.

EDUCATION USA PRESENTATION WITH INTERNATIONAL STUDENT and scholar Services
On July 18, Graduate Administrative Assistants Rhema Boabang and Ally Quinn presented to representatives from EducationUSA during their visit to the University of Wyoming. The presentation was made possible through the support and coordination of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS).
EducationUSA is a U.S. Department of State initiative that promotes U.S. higher education to prospective international students through a network of more than 400 advising centers in over 175 countries. This summer's visiting advisors represented Brazil, Indonesia, Argentina, Israel, Vietnam, Ghana, Morocco, and Bangladesh.
During the presentation, RhemaBoabeng and Ally Quinn, (both current graduate students) shared information about graduate education at UW, highlighting admissions, campus resources, and the many opportunities available to support graduate student success. The visit also introduced advisors to the university's academic programs, student support services, and the unique experience of studying and living in Laramie.
By connecting with International Student and Scholar Services and EducationUSA advisors, the School of Graduate Education strengthened UW's global outreach efforts, helping ensure advisors are well equipped to share information about graduate study opportunities with prospective students around the world.
The University of Wyoming has earned its Research Level 1 (R1) status from the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, placing Wyoming's only four-year university with the top research universities in the United States.
