ANNOUNCEMENTS
Class Change Over - Reminder to avoid driving in Prexy's Pasture during class changeover and yield to pedestrians at all times. The sidewalk between the Agriculture Building and Engineering is NOT a service drive.
Ivinson Avenue Closure (May 18 - October 15, 2026) - Reconstruction of Ivinson Avenue will result in the
closure of the street along and through the University of Wyoming campus starting
Monday, May 18.
The closure will be between Eighth Street and 15th Street, to both traffic and parking,
and is expected to last through Thursday, Oct. 15.
Access will be maintained to the “loop” around Knight Hall either through 12th Street
or 13th Street from Grand Avenue. Access also will be maintained to the parking for
Hoyt Hall as much as possible via either 11th Street or 12th Street from Grand Avenue.
This project includes replacement of sanitary sewer and water lines, storm sewer and
all of the street surface.
13th - 15th Streets will be permanently resurfaced by the end of October, 2026. 9th
Street will be closed for at least one day in the next week or two (week of 8/30/26
or 9/6/26) for resurfacing.
GENERAL INFORMATION & MAPS
Interactive Construction Map – The best quick reference for active capital construction projects, both vertical
and civil maps are available. On the left side of the map, there are layers that you
can select with the check boxes to change what is visible on the map. Click on the
features on the map for information.
Vehicle Access to Core Campus - Vehicular traffic flow onto core campus will be restricted. Every effort must be
made to keep vehicles off of the Prexy’s area during peak passing periods. The Berry
Gate access, at 9 ½ Lewis Street, will be the only access. Incoming vehicles must
pass through this controlled entrance utilizing an authorized WyoOne card.
Information on Capital Construction Projects - Planning & Construction
ONGOING & UPCOMING PROJECTS
Arts & Sciences Building (thru end of September, 2026) - Installation of a new cooling solution for IT's Node 2 basement room (room 007)
began July 2 and will continue through the end of July. Construction activities will
occur near the northwest entrance and adjacent window well areas of the A&S Building.
Pedestrian access along the north west side of the building may be intermittently
impacted, beginning with demolition of the existing air conditioning unit on July
2, 2026.
Aven Nelson Memorial Building – First Floor Renovations (UW Operations) – Portions of the first floor are being renovated for the Wyoming Migration Initiative
and the Zoology Dept. Demolition is currently underway. Please use caution around
construction activities, equipment, and materials.
Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts, Air Handling Unit Replacement (Richardson
Construction, June 22 – mid September 2026): The contractor will utilize a staging area just north of BCPA and begin demo of AHU3
the week of June 22nd. The majority of the work will take place on the interior of
the NW section of the building, but will require access to the roof from the north
and west sides using cranes and fork lifts. During construction, there may be periods
when access through individual doors is temporarily unavailable. Please use caution
as equipment and trucks move through the area.
Corbett Pool & Wrestling Room Renovation (thru September, 2026) - Pool infill is complete and a new slab has been installed. Athletics has started
interior build out of the new wrestling room and all classrooms are in full use that
were impacted by construction.
Gateway Center, North Circle Drive and Sidewalk Replacements (Prairie Equipment, September,
2026) – Contractor will be working as weather permits. Access to the building will be along
the north side during the project. Circle Drive has been poured and is “Open to Foot
Traffic Only”, approach will be poured next week. Please use caution in work areas.
Pilot Hill Trailhead Improvement Project (Pilot Hill Inc., August, 2026) – Pilot Hill Inc. is constructing a parking area with restroom building and outdoor
shelter East of Jacoby Golf Course near the Jacoby Ridge Trail and North of Willett
Drive. The project is substantially complete with punch list items remaining. Parking
lot lighting install is scheduled for next week (9/14-9/22/2026). Please use caution
around remaining work areas.
Student Housing and Dining Project (JE Dunn Construction, Inc., Denver, CO) – Phase III of the UW North and South Hall landscaping project continues with hardscaping
and landscaping work in area 501(West of Dining) and area 503 (Union Lawn). Area 502
(education) is complete and punch lists are nearing completion. Area 501 Update: demo
is underway and utilities are getting ready to start. Area 503 Update: Seat walls
are nearing completion. Irrigation is 90% complete and Sod is primarily installed
with plantings in progress. Pedestrian, bicycle, and ADA access will be limited during
the construction and alternate routes have been identified (see map here). Additional updates will be provided as the project progresses, with July 2027 as
an anticipated completion date.
Union Lot Lawn Area (Early October, 2026) - A new lawn area in the Union lot location is scheduled for completion in early
October, 2026. Please use caution around the work zone. Phase III of the UW North
and South Hall landscaping project continues with hardscaping and landscaping work
in area 501(West of Dining) and area 503 (Union Lawn). Area 502 (education) is complete
and punch lists are nearing completion. Area 501 Update: demo is underway and utilities
are getting ready to start. Area 503 Update: Demo is underway and utilities are getting
ready to start. Area 503 Update: Seat walls are nearing completion. Irrigation is
90% complete and Sod is primarily installed with plantings in progress.
Wyoming Union Exterior Remediation (June 1 - End of August, 2026) - The contractor will begin setting up the staging area on the west side of the Wyoming
Union during the week of June 1. Work will include repairs to portions of the exterior
vertical surfaces, as well as flatwork at several building entrances. During construction,
there may be periods when access through individual doors is temporarily unavailable.
Please use caution as equipment and trucks move through the area.
UW Aquatics Center (October, 2024 thru August, 2026) – The UW Aquatics Center was completed in August and is being utilized by Athletics.
Punch list and commissioning is well under way and nearing completion. UW AV upgrades
are underway in the pool areas. (see map here) Please use caution in the work area.
