Features of the UWBF

A Space Designed to Accommodate
DIVERSE RESEARCH PLANS

Since opening, the UWBF has hosted the University of Wyoming’s massive COVID-19 testing program, supporting a safe return to campus life in the 2020-2021 academic year. The lab recently hosted a brucellosis sequencing project to characterize the strains of Brucella abortus circulating among Wyoming’s elk. The facility’s features offer so many more possibilities for discovery.

  • 2,500 square feet
  • 3 independent laboratory spaces
  • 1 small-animal holding room
  • 1 class III biological safety cabinet provides complete containment
  • 1 BSL-3 necropsy suite for safe work with large animal specimens
  • Infrastructure that exceeds CDC requirements for Select Agent work
  • Access to core facilities on-site and elsewhere on the UW campus
