Application Process

Pre-Medicine Course Requirements
Required Coursework:
- Biology: 1 year* (lab recommended)
- Chemistry/Biochemistry: 2 years* total, including general and organic chemistry (lab recommended)
- Physics: 1 year*
- Social Sciences, Humanities, or the Human Condition: Demonstrated competency through coursework or experience. Coursework to consider:
- Anthropology
- Sociology
- Political Science
- Economics
- Psychology
- Religion
- History
- Philosophy
- Literature
All courses must be completed at a regionally accredited institution. AP credits are accepted if your undergraduate school grants credit and it appears on your transcript. The following subject matter is highly recommended, but not required:
- Anatomy or comparative anatomy
- Calculus
- Embryology
- Ethics
- Human or mammalian physiology
- Microbiology and/or Immunology
- Psychology
- Statistics (biostatistics preferred)
*1-year equals, for example, 3 quarters or 2 semesters of course work.

Who is Eligible to Apply?
Wyoming WWAMI applicants must meet the program's residency requirements to qualify, and be a competitive candidate for Medical School.
Residency Requirements
To be eligible for the Wyoming WWAMI Medical Education Program, applicants must be Wyoming residents per the WWAMI residency guidelines. Wyoming high school graduates and other Wyoming residents of 5+ years are typically eligible to apply. For admission details and specific residency questions, contact the University of Wyoming’s Pre-Health Advising Office.
Medical School Entry Requirements
In addition to good grades in the prerequisite coursework, applicants must take the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) no later than September 30 of the year prior to possible matriculation. Applicants are also encouraged to volunteer, shadow, and participate in research. Contact your pre-health advisor for details. The University of Wyoming offers pre-health advising to all Wyoming residents.
