Fall 2025 & Spring 2026 Department Scholarships

The Department of Zoology & Physiology is proud to offer both scholarships and research awards to support our undergraduate and graduate students. These opportunities recognize academic excellence, research potential, and activities such as research-related travel and conference participation.

Fall 2025 & Spring 2026 Departmental Scholarships are now available to apply! The deadline for applications is Friday, November 21, 2025 (11:59PM).

Thanks to our generous donors that the Department of Zoology and Physiology offers about 15 scholarships each year to both graduate and undergraduate students in the department.

Group 1 awards

Awards with common application format.

$2000 award (1 award) for undergraduate or graduate students in Zoology & Physiology for early-phase research in any field within the department.

$2000 award (1 award) for research in social, biological, or physical sciences within the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem for Zoology & Physiology students.

$3000/each (7 awards) for graduate or outstanding undergraduates in Zoology & Physiology, with a focus on wildlife or fisheries management and ecology.

$1500/each (1 award) for juniors in Zoology & Physiology conducting faculty-supervised research in physiology, genetics, or molecular/cellular biology.

$2000/each (10 awards) for juniors, seniors, or graduate students studying biology and management of coldwater fisheries.

$3000/each (3 awards) for graduate students researching aquatic ecosystems in Zoology & Physiology.

$2000/each (1 award) for graduate students in Zoology & Physiology conducting research on Wyoming nongame terrestrial/aquatic species.

$2500/each for graduate students developing quantitative research/statistical approaches in wildlife or fisheries ecology.

Senior graduate student award.

~$18,000 (2 awards) for Ph.D. candidates in advanced stages of ecology, evolution, wildlife, or fisheries research; this is the Department of Zoology and Physiology’s most prestigious student award.

Group 4 awards

Small grants & scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students.

$500/each (4 awards) for undergraduate or graduate fisheries students involved in the UW chapter of the American Fisheries Society.

$800/each (1 award) for undergraduates, graduates, or postdocs studying fisheries, aquatic invertebrates, or amphibians.

$1500/each (3 awards) for undergraduate WFBM fisheries majors or graduate fisheries students.

$1000/each (3 awards) for juniors, seniors, or graduate students in Zoology & Physiology focused on terrestrial ecology or wildlife management.

$800/each (3 awards) for graduate students in Zoology & Physiology in any field within the department.

$600 (1 award) for senior undergraduate or graduate students who participate in research that can be directly applied to wildlife management.
