Foods and Nutrition

This project is designed for all ages as it stresses healthy food selection, food safety, smart food purchasing, food preservation, food preparation and careers. The food curriculum is designed to help youth develop both project skills and life skills. The food curriculum follows a model known as the experimental learning process which emphasizes “learning by doing”. Members may learn about the food pyramid, comparison shopping, food labels, kitchen safety, microwave cooking, techniques for quick breads and cookies, food spoilage and freshness, along with many new recipes.
