Wyoming 4-H Shooting Sports
The Wyoming 4-H Program offers several shooting sports projects and events for its youth members. Adult volunteers are specially trained to teach youth everything they need to know regarding this project area.
Volunteer Leader Certification Training
All Wyoming 4-H Shooting Sports leaders are required to be trained and certified to teach youth members. The training must be completed every five (5) years. Certification trainings are held in the spring in various locations throughout the state.
Laramie County - February 7-8 in Pine Bluffs (registration closes January 30)
Crook County- February 21-22 in Sundance (registration closes February 9)
Fremont County - March 7-8 in Riverton (registration closes February 23)
Uinta County - March 14-15 in Evanston (registration closes March 2)
Volunteer Development Committee Meeting
Each year volunteer leaders meet to discuss the educational components of the program as well as plan the events mentioned above. The 2015 meeting will be held at the Natrona County Extension office on Saturday, February 28th at 10:00 a.m. Lunch will be provided.
Competitive Events for Youth
Email Shooting Matches offer youth across the state to compete against others on a state-wide basis through the mail. They typically begin around the first of May each year. Contact your local shooting sports leader for more information.
State Shoot is held each year in Douglas the second week of July.
Each year, senior-aged members can qualify for and attend an awards trip in Raton, New Mexico.
Youth interested may submit applications to participate at the National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational. This event is typically held the third week of June.
