Wyoming 4-H Shooting Sports

The Wyoming 4-H Program offers several shooting sports projects and events for its youth members.  Adult volunteers are specially trained to teach youth everything they need to know regarding this project area.

Volunteer Leader Certification

In the spring months, the Shooting Sports Training Committee will be coming to a county near you to conduct a training! If you are a new shooting sports leader or have reached five years since your last training, plan to attend one of these opportunities.

Planning for 2018 Certification dates is in progress, please check back again soon.

  • Laramie County: February 3rd and 4th, in Cheyenne/Archer. Registration is open through January 22, 2018.
  • Teton County: February 10-11, in Jackson. Registration is open through January 29, 2018
  • Park County: March 3-4, in Cody. Registration is open through February 19, 2018.
  • Carbon County: March 10-11 in Rawlins. Registration is open through February 26, 2018.
  • Campbell County: March 24-25, in Gillette. Registration is open through March 12, 2018.

Volunteer Development Committee Meeting 

Each year volunteer leaders meet to discuss the educational components of the program as well as plan the events mentioned above.  The 2018 meeting was held at the Hilton in Casper on Saturday, February 24th.

Competitive Events for Youth

State Shoot is held each year in Douglas the second week of July.

Each year, senior-aged members can qualify for and attend an awards trip in Raton, New Mexico.

Youth interested may submit applications to participate at the National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational.  This event is typically held the third week of June.
