The primary goal of the International Studies Program is to provide a solid understanding of global issues and world affairs. International Studies is an interdisciplinary program that spans all of the university's seven colleges. Undergraduate courses are arranged into either thematic areas (global economic systems, international culture and social issues, international development and the global environment) or regional areas (Asia and the Pacific Rim, Africa and the Middle East, Europe and the Former Soviet Union, and Latin America).
Our students participate in a rigorous academic curriculum as well as numerous activities outside the classroom that contribute to their understanding of international affairs and prepare them for a career in the global workplace - Study Abroad, internships, field research, and community service.
Students from Dr. Bonnie Zare's Women of India class visit the Taj Mahal. Students travel to India over the UW Winter break as part of a study abroad component to the Women of India class.
