Congratulations on your acceptance to the University of Wyoming! As you begin your college journey, we're excited to introduce our Saddle Up preparation program to incoming students for fall 2022. Saddle Up introduces students to the demands of college coursework and helps them develop critical thinking, planning and study skills necessary for future success. This program will also offer students a look into the experience of an academic semester, including participation in classes, student wellness, connection with classmates, managing your time for academic success, and much more.

What can I expect from this course?

We have designed Saddle Up to be a comprehensive and exciting experience that helps prepare you for the adjustment to college coursework at UW. Students will be guided through a week-long course with plenty of opportunities to connect with faculty, staff and of course the students who will be part of your college journey over the next several years.

Who is required to attend?

All incoming first-time, full-time domestic students entering UW in the fall of 2022 will participate in Saddle Up. This is a required course for students who will be automatically enrolled once they have confirmed their enrollment. While international students are not required to participate in Saddle Up, they are welcome to do so, and we encourage their participation. Is the Saddle Up camp mandatory?

Yes. Students will earn one credit hour which can also be counted towards a student's full-time status. Saddle Up is an accelerated yet exciting program that will give students the leg up they need to successfully navigate their time at UW as a student and community member.

When will Saddle Up take place?

Saddle Up will allow our first-year students to arrive one week early to campus ahead of the fall semester. That's right! You'll get to settle into the residence halls early before the fall 2022 semester officially begins. Students will arrive on August 14 and partake in a course from August 15-19. The weekend of August 20-21, extra sleep-in time is on the schedule before can’t miss campus community experiences like Cowboy Carnival, Rec Fest and Healthy Relationships & Consent. An outdoor movie inside War Memorial Stadium concludes the week, allowing students time to recharge before official classes begin on August 22. Check out the full schedule for more details.
