SER Academic and Career Services Purpose

Academic advising is a collaborative education process whereby students and their advisors form a working relationship to establish the student’s educational and career goals and utilize the resources available to optimize a student’s experience in the process of meeting those goals. To support this process, there are expectations of the student and the advisor. These expectations will encourage a successful partnership, and help students achieve the learning outcomes of academic advising/career services.

All students in SER (BS, minor, or certificate students) will meet with Kami Danaei for their academic advising and career services. Students are free to make as many appointments as they want towards these two efforts.

Methods:

During meetings with your advisor, there will be discussion regarding your coursework. This will include how individual courses are going as well as how coursework applies toward your degree audit/graduation plan. During meetings Kami can also coach you regarding your resumecover letterLinkedIn profile and Handshake profile. SER’s goal is for you to obtain Internships Sophomore-Senior year.  Kami will also share information regarding scholarships, both on and off the UW campus.

Prerequisite:

Within the ERMD BS there are two concentrations: Professional Land Management and Energy and Environmental Systems (formerly, Energy, Land and Water).
