Research Statement
The general theme of Jeff Snider’s research is water in its various phases (vapor, liquid and ice), water’s interactions with other atmospheric constituents (aerosol and trace gases), and implications of those interactions for clouds, precipitation, and atmospheric pollution. Recent examples of research he has directed include, 1) precipitation quantification, 2) droplet spectra broadening in stratocumulus, 3) atmospheric condensation and freezing nuclei, and 4) atmospheric aerosols. He is addressing these topics by conducting field measurements of precipitation, aerosols, clouds, lidar- and radar-based retrievals of precipitation and clouds, and by conducting laboratory-based investigations of aerosols.
Research Areas
