Principal Endorsement Program

Description

The Principal Endorsement Program is an internship-based leadership program. UW's first certificate program leads to an endorsement as a K-12 principal in the state of Wyoming.

The program is designed for those who (a) already have a closely related master's degree (this does not guarantee admission to this program) and appropriate educational experience, (b) seek endorsement to supplement a current UW master's degree in progress, or (c) wish to take courses in educational leadership as electives. The program does not lead to a master's degree. To receive endorsement as a principal, it also requires a minimum of 3 years of classroom teaching experience as defined by Wyoming's Professional Teaching Standards Board (PTSB). Those seeking a master's degree in educational leadership should apply to the Master's Degree Program offered by the department.

Focusing on the department's mission to develop effective educational leaders and researchers, the program includes four core courses currently offered in two locations in the state, Casper and Lander. The four core courses are scheduled for three weekends, usually Friday night through Sunday morning, and may include video conferencing or online components.
