FRANK DEMIERO - clinician
Ask his peers, and they'll tell you that Frank is the reason vocal jazz is alive today in America's schools. Ask the performers that he's worked with - Bob Hope, Bill Cosby, Bobby McFerrin, Carmen McRae, Dianne Reeves, Joe Williams, Take 6, the Hi-Los, the New York Voices, the Four Freshmen, and Mark Murphy, just to name a few - and they'll tell you that his choirs are some of the finest in the world
The Friends of Frank DeMiero Jazz Festival exists to honor this living legend, and to ensure that his spirit and educational philosophy continue to inspire young people throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Frank founded the Frank DeMiero Jazz Camp in 1976, there's no way Frank would have known that he would touch the lives of more than 6,000 student and educator participants. For 25 years, the camp attracted a who's who among its faculty and artists in residence.
Frank also served as the Director of Vocal Jazz Studies at the University of Washington for two years, was on the Advisory Council for the International Association of Jazz Educators, served as President of the Puget Sound Music Administrators Association, the Sno-King Music Educators, the Washington Chapter of the International Association of Jazz Educators and was the Northwest Coordinator for IAJE. He is a voting member of the Grammys.
Frank is the co-founder of Sound Music Publications, a publishing company that offers the best in all areas of contemporary choral literature, recordings, and choral clinics.
