National & Wyoming Foreign Language Initiatives

The Wyoming Middle School Articulation Project
Foreign Language Assistance Grant (FLAP)

Submitted to the U.S. Department of Education by Ann Tollefson, Wyoming Foreign Language Education Consultant, this project will be implemented in October 2006 and continue through September 2009.
According to the project narrative, the two chief project goals are as follows:
1. Beginning in the elementary grades and continuing through secondary school, students who have completed a K-6 program of language study will demonstrate steady progress in proficiency in at least one language other than English through a well-articulated, standards-based foreign language program.
2. The Wyoming program will present a well-articulated, standards-based sequence of language study beginning in the kindergarten and continuing through secondary school that will offer a national model for other schools, districts, and states.
