Come attend a STEM summer camp in beautiful heart of the Rocky Mountain West in perfect summer weather!

The Gold STEM Summer Camp for rising 7th-11th grade students is located at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, in the heart of the Rocky Mountain West. The university has state-of-the-art facilities in many areas, and the community provides the advantages of a major university. Laramie has a very mild summer climate, making it ideal for outdoor activities and walking around the campus. Located in a high mountain valley near the Colorado border, Laramie offers outstanding recreational opportunities. This beautiful mountain landscape offers outdoor enjoyment in all seasons, with over 300 days of sunshine annually. For more information about the region, please visit here.

Course Offerings

Each student will be scheduled to take four mini-courses. Project-Based Learning (PBL) will be the primary instructional method used so that students have some freedom in choosing their design. The courses will be selected from the following:

  • Coding/Cryptography
  • Bridge Building
  • Microcontroller
  • Musical Instrument Design
  • Parachute Construction
  • 3D Printing
  • SAT Math Prep
  • Foreign Language
  • Catapult Design
  • Jet Robot Car/Robotics
  • UAV(Drones)
  • Statistics

Evening and weekend activities will be selected from the following:

  • Educational games
  • Talent show
  • Movie night
  • Ice-skating
  • Planetarium
  • American Heritage Center
  • Shell 3D Visualization Center
  • Museum of Geology


Foster Student Scholarships Available

Through a grant provided by the College of Education, up to 15 foster children may qualify for a one-week day camp for only $20. To receive the scholarship, complete the scholarship application. Once it is approved, complete the registration form for one of the one-week day camps. Additionally, there are a very limited number of shcolarships for foster students more than 20 miles Laramie to attend a one-week residential camp for $40. Click here to complete the application for a one-week day or residential camp for foster students.

Other Financial Need Scholarships

Through support from the College of Engineering, 9 students who meet qualifications for financial assistance may attend a one-week day camp for $500. Click here to complete the scholarship application for a one-week day camp.

Housing and Dining 

Residence hall at the University of Wyoming offer comfortable accommodations with nice lobby areas and a 24-hours service desk. Student campers will stay in McIntyre Hall, and teachers will stay in Orr Hall. Washakie Dining Center provides a wide variety of options, including vegan and vegetarian dietary restrictions.
