Richard "Dick" M. Davis, Jr., served as managing partner to the law firm, Davis and Cannon, for much of 40 years starting in 1968. He helped guide the firm from one office with two attorneys to its present size of three offices and 11 attorneys. As of 2009 Dick elected to become "of counsel" to the firm, meaning he is no longer a partner but still maintains a close working relationship there. He actively practices law in the areas of real estate, business organizations, probate, trust and estate planning.
He has served on numerous committees for the Wyoming State Bar Association and the Supreme Court of Wyoming. These include the Governor's Intergovernmental Judicial Study Commission on State Courts, the Permanent Rules Committee (Civil), the Multi-Disciplinary Practice (MDP) Committee, the Judicial Merit Selection Committee for the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Governor's Commission on Health Care Reform. Dick is is a Trustee and the immediate Past-President of the Board of Trustees of the University of Wyoming. He was born in Denver, Colorado and received his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of Colorado in 1964 and 1967, respectively. He is licensed to practice law in both Colorado and Wyoming.
