Chris Dewey

Chris Dewey, PhD, MAcOM, LAc, is a graduate of Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin. Chris is a Licensed Acupuncturist (LAc #004) in the State of Wyoming, and a board-certified practitioner holding Diplomate status in Oriental Medicine from NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine). Additionally, Chris serves as the current President of the Wyoming Acupuncture Society.

Chris began his academic life with a BSc in geology and an MSc in micropalaeontology from the University of London, but Chris has always followed his dreams and passions, which led him from his childhood home in England to Canada in pursuit of a doctorate. After living in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan, Chris moved to the United States and became a university professor at Mississippi State University. Chris held his primary faculty position as a geologist in the Department of Geosciences, but also held an adjunct position as a martial artist in the Department of Kinesiology. Additionally, Chris was a member of the Shackouls Honors Faculty, the Graduate Coordinator for the Department of Geosciences, and served the College of Arts and Sciences as Director of the General Science degree program. After a twenty-nine-year career of teaching, service and research at MSU, Chris took early retirement and moved to Texas to enroll at AOMA Graduate School for Integrative Medicine. While he was a student at AOMA, Chris also served as a member of the adjunct faculty and taught the Practice Management class, in addition to co-teaching the Ethics and Legal Issues, and Evidence-Based Practice classes.

Chris is a life-long learner, and outside of geology and oriental medicine, Chris has been a martial artist since 1969, and is a highly ranked black belt in Judo, Traditional Ju Jutsu, Hapkido and Taekwondo. Chris has been a national-level coach, competitor and referee in the martial arts, has published books on martial arts coaching and owned his own successful martial arts school for sixteen-years prior to his retirement from MSU. He is also a published poet, having published five poetry books, and is an award-winning nature photographer.

Chris moved to Laramie in 2016 to establish his clinical practice in Oriental Medicine, enjoys living close to nature and being of service in the community.
