The Women’s Employee Network is a group open to all staff and faculty who want to come together to support and connect with others within the university community. Over the course of the semester, we will gather for social events, facilitate mentoring and host professional development activities. The Women’s Employee Network is meant to be a place where we can network and share our experiences with others. I hope in the process that we build new friendships along the way. There is a place for everyone. No matter the journey you are on personally or professionally, this network is meant to connect women together to support, mentor, inspire and help each other grow individually and as a community.
If you have any questions about the group or suggestions for upcoming events, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at Jennifer.Chavez@uwyo.edu or 307-766-4874. I am very excited about the opportunities this group opens up for each of us, and look forward to connecting with you all over the coming years.
My name is Jen Chavez, and I am excited to be the team leader for the first ever Women’s Employee Network. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Wyoming and have been a long time employee of the Division of Information Technology and have served in various capacities over the years. I currently serve as the Director of Enterprise IT, Infrastructure and Security, and am working on my Master’s in Higher Education Administration. In 2019, I had the privilege of attending the Academic Management Institute, which is a Colorado and Wyoming network of women leaders. During this past year, I have been able to network with a variety of women including administrators, faculty, and staff from across the State of Colorado and Wyoming. This group has inspired, motivated and rejuvenated my passion for the work that I do. On day one of the institute, we were asked to think about what we wanted to get out of the institute and log it in our journal. As I look back to that page in my journal, I wrote “inspire others to achieve their full potential, and I want to make an impact”. As a team leader, I want to bring women together to support and help each other grow as a community.
My name is Erin Olsen and I’m excited to co-lead the Women’s Employee Network. I received my undergraduate degree from Northern State University in International Business and then studied abroad while completing my academic program. During my time at Northern, I was a student-athlete and had an incredible experience participating on the women’s soccer team. I was heavily involved in co-curricular experiences that changed the trajectory of my career pursuits and instilled a passion for higher education. I went on to receive my master’s degree in Counselor Education and doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Wyoming. I have served in a variety of roles on campus ranging from Admissions, The University Counseling Center, Wyoming Union, and now serve as the Manger of Inclusivity Initiatives in Human Resources. In the past, I was heavily involved in our UW Women’s Leadership program, taught academic leadership classes, facilitate numerous leadership development program, and also graduated from the UW Leadership Academy. I greatly enjoy creating opportunities for women to share lived experiences, learn together, grow, and keep a sense of humor!
