RECIPROCITY

Reciprocity is an understanding that UW holds with most other law colleges in the country that allows UW students and alumni to job search at other schools by providing reciprocal privileges here. Be wary that most institutions close reciprocity during the fall months due to on campus interviewing. Usually reciprocity is granted for three months.

HOW TO APPLY FOR RECIPROCITY

UW STUDENTS AND ALUMNI

  1. You can obtain reciprocity by requesting the Director of Career Services to make a request to the law school that you wish to see job postings from.
  2. You will need to include a physical address, email address, phone # in your request (just send an email).
  3. Please include the name and address, email of the person who grants reciprocity if possible. This saves time and makes the process quicker.
  4. Also, please understand that some schools grant reciprocity on a one-to-one basis. This means that they grant access to one of our students every time we grant to one of theirs.
  5. Please limit your requests to a reasonable amount (one or two schools at a time).
  6. Check in with Career Services if you haven't received a reply in a week or two or you haven't seen the request go out.

UW LAW RECIPROCITY POLICY

FOR OTHER INSTITUTIONS AND THEIR GRADUATES OR STUDENTS

  1. The University of Wyoming College of Law recognizes the crucial need for academic institutions to work together providing opportunities to the students and graduates of law. The Office of Career Services will gladly extend access to students and alumni of other institutions given the following understanding:
  2. Services are available to students or graduates whose law schools grant reciprocal privileges to students or graduates of the University of Wyoming College of Law.
  3. Requests for reciprocity should be made in writing, preferably by email, by the individual's Career Services Office, certifying that said individual is a student/graduate of the law school and further agrees to offer reciprocity to students/graduates of the University of Wyoming College of Law .
  4. Reciprocity is granted for three months, effective from the date of correspondence in which reciprocal privileges are affirmatively extended. Reciprocity is generally not available during the period August 1 through December 1 except where other schools allow reciprocity during this period.
