What is CRLA?
CRLA (College Reading & Learning Association) is a professional organization devoted to the fields of reading, learning assistance, developmental education, tutoring, and mentoring at the college/adult level. CRLA sponsors the International Tutoring Program Certification.
Who is eligible for CRLA certification?
Most programs on campus that employ tutors are already participating in CRLA. Please ask your supervisor if you aren’t sure. If your program would like to participate in CRLA, contact Jessica Willford at 766-4322.
What are CRLA requirements?
Level I Certification:

In addition, tutors must:
- Complete an interview and be hired by participating program.
- Earn a grade of “A” or “B” in subject content being tutored
- Be evaluated by supervisor each semester
