Small Engine Research & Emission Testing Lab

Equipment available for use in the small engine test facility includes: a SuperFlow SF-901 Engine Dynamometer. This system consists of an SF-833 water-brake power absorber with a 1,000+ Hp (745 kW) rating and a 1,000 lb-ft (1350 Nm) Interface Load Cell, Digital Console Tower with 8-channel type-K Exhaust Gas Temperature panel upgrade, WynDyn data acquisition software, and a Pro Console table with Morse Throttle Cable. The system is capable of braking from 10 to 1000+ Hp and can monitor and record data for pertinent engine operating parameters including power measurements, pressures, temperatures, air/fuel ratio, air consumption, specific fuel and consumption. Flow measurements are done using a SuperFlow SF-120 Flowbench., including a dual air turbine dual manometer with 1200CFM capacity and multi-fixture bench top.

Also available is an SPX OTC Micro Gas emissions diagnostic system with printer. This system measures all five engine emissions gases to BAR90, BAR97/ASM standards. Multiple display and record modes show levels of nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and oxygen. The emissions analyzer is interfaced to the dynamometer data acquisition and control system for integrated emissions/engine condition measurements.
