Terell Stafford, acclaimed trumpet player based in New York, has been hailed as “one of the great players of our time, a fabulous trumpet player” by piano legend McCoy Tyner. Stafford is recognized as an incredibly gifted and versatile player, he combines a deep love of melody with his own brand of spirited and adventurous lyricism. Stafford’s exceptionally expressive and well defined musical talent allows him to dance in and around the rich trumpet tradition of his predecessors while making his own inroads.

Faculty Recital Series: Fall of the Wall Celebration

Join faculty violinist John Fadial and English pianist Andrew Harley for music of reflection and celebration of the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.  This concert is in collaboration with Professor Stephanie Anderson (Women’s Studies/Sociology), week-long celebration of the "Fall of the Wall." This concert takes place on the actual day in 1989 when the Berlin wall came down and will feature music of Schnittke and Brahms.

Johannes Brahms’ magnificent Horn Trio in E-flat major, Op. 40 was composed in 1865 to commemorate the death of his mother earlier that year.  Faure’s Piano Quartet in c minor, op. 15 was begun in 1877 and first performed in 1880. Join faculty members Sherry Sinift, Jason Johnston, Chi-Chen Wu, and Beth Vanderborgh, along with guest violist Rebecca Henry as they bring these two masterworks to life.
