Advising/Registration Nurse Educator

Advising Process

Upon admission to the Nurse Educator program, students are assigned a nursing faculty member as their academic advisor. Advisor assignments are identified in the letters of admission from the School of Nursing. Questions can be directed to the Graduate Program Nursing Office at 307-766-6568 or gradnurse@uwyo.edu.

CAPP Degree Checks

  • Students in the School of Nursing utilize CAPP (an online Degree Evaluation) in lieu of the Program of Study Form.

  • CAPP is a degree/certificate progress report/advising support system that matches students' completed and current course work with their degree/certificate requirements to determine progress toward earning their degree/certificate.

  • Graduate Nursing Program staff monitor CAPP progression and request needed exceptions (e.g. pointing of transfer courses, electives) based on individual student's program.

Registration

  • Registration for Nurse Educator students: Required ADED/ITEC courses

    • Registration in the ADED/ITEC courses requires initially being placed on the waitlist for the course; waitlists are monitored through the Professional Studies office (307-766-2366); students are moved into courses based on eligibility/space.

    • When students attempt to register for the course, it identifies that the course is closed; students are given the option of adding themselves to the waitlist.

    • Students add themselves to the waitlist by clicking on waitlist and submitting the registration request a 2nd time; students should be sure to accept this option as it is not automatic.

    • Students monitor their enrollment status through WyoWeb on all waitlisted courses.

  • Registration for Registered Nurse with a non-nursing baccalaureate degree

    • Students who are a registered nurse with a bachelor's degree that is not in nursing, and who need the two undergraduate bridge classes to complete their application packet, (N3010, N3020), should go to "Registration: Non Degree Seeking Students" page for registration instructions.

  • Registration Notes for All Students

    • Students who want to take NURS 5140, Pharmacotherapy for Primary Care Practitioners, should go to the"Registration: Non Degree Seeking Students" page for registration instructions. NOTE: Potential UW Nurse Practitioner students are not to take this class until admitted into the program and then must take it in sequence with their approved plan of study.

    • Due to high admittance and enrollment in the school's master's program option, the program is no longer able to admit students under non-degree seeking graduate student status into the graduate-level nursing courses with the potential exception of NURS 5140 - Pharmacotherapy for Primary Care Practitioners (see below).

    • "W" Numbers:
The "W" number is a student's UW student identification number. It is a randomly assigned 8-digit number preceded by a W.

    • Wyoming Student Medical Insurance:
Each fall and spring semester students are required to make a selection through their WyoWeb account within the 'Registration Tools Channel' regarding Student Medical Insurance before they may register. Please refer to the UW Class Schedule for additional information.
