The Group fitness instructors complete the mentorship training program along with receiving certification or participate in class specific workshops to further their experiences. Our personal trainers are all nationally certified and in pursuit of their kinesiology or health promotion degrees.
The UW Intramural Sports Program offers paid work opportunities for officials, supervisors, and office assistants. Application forms are available in the Intramural Sports Office, Half Acre 206. Previous experience as an official is desired, but not required. Training clinics are offered before the start of each sport in order to teach the required skills. None of these employment opportunities prevents participation on a team.
The Open Recreation student staff is a vital part of Campus Recreation. Open Recreation student employees consist of lifeguards, customer service staff, which includes Front Lobby ID Checker, Equipment Room Attendant, Service Window Assistant, Weight Room Attendant, Facility Supervisors and two graduate assistants. There are at least 5 student employees on staff every hour when Half Acre is open. We take great pride in our excellent customer service.
The Outdoor Program hires office staff, route setters, and qualified trip leaders. The program also employs one graduate assistant for a two-year term. Applications are available in the Outdoor Program office, Half Acre 115.
