AmeriCorps Scholarships for Service
Scholarships for Service is a part of AmeriCorps' Connecting Campus and Community Program designed to connect current Wyoming college and university students to their communities through service. Scholarships are awarded to students who complete internship hours in areas of education, environmental initiatives, public safety, human services, and homeland community. As a College of Education student, you may apply all of your student teaching hours towards the 300-hour requirement. To be eligible, a student must be a United States citizen and 17 years or older. In addition to the internship hours, students must:
- Attend a mandatory orientation
- Attend one hour of training per month
- Submit timesheets every month
- Submit an essay on a pivotal moment in service experience
Once a student completes 300 internship service hours, he/she will receive a $1,132 scholarship that can be used to repay qualified student loans or future tuition expenses.
