SMTC Science-Focus Writing Sample Questions
Your responses to the following three questions will be viewed as an official writing sample and will play an important role in the evaluation of your SMTC Summer Science Program Application. The SMTC selection committee members will be looking for clarity in the presentation of your ideas and your ability to write at a graduate student level. Be sure your responses are thoughtful, clear, well written, and reflect who you are as a teacher and a colleague (approximately 3-5 paragraphs).
1) Describe in detail why you wish to pursue an MS in Natural Science (science focus) degree, including why you want to do so at this time and how you are planning to use the degree in the future.
2) What would you do if you could structure how you teach science in any way you want? What would a visitor see if they came to this class?
3) What strengths would you bring to our program that would demonstrate your ability to be a successful candidate and to contribute to the learning environment?
Scholarship
Scholarships are contingent on available funds and will be awarded only to those students fully admitted to the MS in Natural Science degree program for graduate study. However, the award of a Scholarship is not a prerequisite to be accepted to the SMTC Summer Science Program.
