Climb to
College Success with Summit 09
How do I
meet people who share my interests? What are the biggest hurdles new
students face at UW? Compared to high school, what are the
expectations and structures of college courses?
Coming to college will most likely be one of the most exciting and
profound transitions you’ve had yet in your life. New people. New
ways of learning and thinking about the world. New experiences,
challenges, and accomplishments. The Summit 09 Transition Program
offers the next crucial step after
orientation to helping you move
into this uncharted territory with the knowledge and grounding for a
successful, seamless transition. In this exciting program, you’ll
meet new and advanced students at UW, uncover insights about your
own personality that will help you in college and in life, listen to
dynamic presentations, and participate in a Saturday event of your
choice that will give you a new look at the scope of a college
education. In the evenings, optional events will be offered by
several organizations on campus.
Interviews with sophomore students at UW never
fail to bring out common thoughts on the first year—the ups and
downs of independence and time management, the learning curve of new
study and course habits, and the joys of finding new interests and
life-changing opportunities. The Summit 09 Program offers invaluable
preparation for handling any curves the first year might present.
Focusing on key skills for
college and connection with UW students and faculty, Summit 09 will
dramatically affect your mindset as you walk into your first class
on August 24.
