MBAX 5510 (Managerial Finance), is
a three credit course offered as part of the Univeritsity of Wyoming Online Executive MBA program
.
Throughout MBAX 5510, we will consider the topic of Corporate Finance from the viewpoint of the financial manager of a corporation. Although financial decision making may be centered in a separate area, financial decisions are closely related to decisions made throughout the firm. In its simplest form, financial decisions are involved in managing the cash inflows and outflows. Because the objective of financial management is to maximize the long-run value of a firm’s common stock, the primary decision areas are focused on operations, working capital, investment, and financing.
Even though not taught as a “case course,” cases will be a major portion of the class. As a graduate class in Financial Management, I will provide a much deeper and extensive examination of the material than was covered in FIN 3250 (our undergraduate class in Managerial Finance). The textbook used in this class should provide the needed theory and practical “nuts and bolts” of the topic; whereas, the cases will provide an opportunity to apply this knowledge to real world type situations.
This class is being taught 100% over the Internet!
