Sheridan Research Center Field Day Cancelled; Will Welcome New Director

July 28, 2009
Man
Steven Keeley

A scheduled Aug. 6 field day has been cancelled and an event to welcome the new director of the University of Wyoming's Sheridan Research and Extension Center (SREC) will instead be scheduled.

Steven Keeley will start Sept. 28. Keeley replaces Justin Moss, who took a position at his alma mater, Oklahoma State University, last fall. Keeley is an associate professor at Kansas State University (KSU), where his specialty is turf grass science.

In addition to his duties as director, Keeley will teach in the third-year agroecology program (a joint venture between UW and Sheridan College) and conduct research on various aspects of turf grass management.

Keeley received his Ph.D. from Colorado State University in 1996. He has since served in two positions at KSU and one position at Montana State University (MSU). He began his academic career as a state extension specialist at KSU from 1996 to 1999. He taught at MSU before returning to KSU, where he has taught and conducted research since July 2000.
