Balinese Music and Dance Concert Saturday at UW

November 8, 2011 — The University of Wyoming Gamelan Chandra Wyoga will present a free concert featuring Balinese music and dance Saturday, Nov. 12, at 4 p.m. in the UW Fine Arts concert hall.

UW Music Professor Rod Garnett says the group will feature kecak, the colorful voice gamelan.

"Dancers and actors will present dramatic scenes from the Ramayana, accompanied by a large of group of singers," Garnett says. "In addition, students, faculty and guest Balinese dancers and instrumentalists will perform a variety of pieces on the beautiful Wyoming Gamelan instruments."
