Indigenous Peoples Day Celebrated at UW Oct. 11

“Indigenous Peoples Day Every Day” will be celebrated on Simpson Plaza from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at the University of Wyoming.

The celebration will feature stories and speakers to honor Indigenous Peoples Day across the U.S. The holiday, an official city and state holiday in various localities, honors the histories, cultures and perspectives of Indigenous peoples and their ancestors who lived on the land now known as North America.

The Laramie City Council’s recognition of Indigenous Peoples Day as the second Monday in October will officially be announced during Monday’s free public event.

UW’s Native American student organization and the UW Native American Education, Research and Cultural Center sponsor the event.
