Connecting Campus and Community AmeriCorps Program:

The Center for Volunteer Service has received federal grant funding through SERVE Wyoming and the Corporation for National and Community Service for a three year program placing ten UW students in the Laramie Community as AmeriCorps Members.

  • Seven of these members will work one on one with community organizations, helping them develop volunteer management plans, and increase their capacity to recruit, train and maintain volunteers.
  • Two will work with the Center for Volunteer Service to help increase student participation in volunteerism.
  • One AmeriCorps Member will assist the Program Director in coordinating trainings, member development programs, and with general program assistance.

Student interested in being AmeriCorps Members

AmeriCorps is a program that connects the UW campus with the community. The AmeriCorps program provides professional training opportunities, career skills and networks, a modest living stipend, and a $1250 education scholarship. AmeriCorps positions are available through the Center for Volunteer Service. There are three positions open at this time. The positions are connected with the Children’s Museum, Prevent Violence, and the Laramie Economic Development Corporation.
